this map begins with a star
as it falls through the night sky
plunging silently into the ocean of darkness
and on
straight into that heart of mine
sinking ever deeper into my body
illuminating each cell
igniting my voice
with tidings bright
radiating its light
to the other souls
here with me around the fire
as a new year arrives
orienting us further towards each other
pointing us to the place imbibed with sacred song
to the light of beginning within us
guiding us through darkening times
through unknown lands
sparkling with promise
on our steady journey home into love
